The Rector of Charles University Prof Milena Králíčková awarded for the first time the Cori Award for contributing to equal opportunities to Prof Alena Macurová. The Arnošt of Pardubice Award for outstanding pedagogical activity was awarded to Prof Petr Čermák and an honorary mention of the Grant Agency of CU was awarded to a PhD student Kristina Doležalová.
The day of dual remembrance: the brutal police crackdown on students that ignited the Velvet Revolution in 1989, and the tragic events of autumn 1939, when the Nazis shut down universities and deported students to a concentration camp. Representatives of Czech universities commemorated the memory of those who fought for freedom and democracy.
Dr Ingrid Anderson from Boston University teaches a course at the Department of Middle Eastern Studies at CU FA, entitled “From Spinoza to Ben Gurion: Modern and Contemporary Jewish Philosophy, Theology and Political Thought.” Her research focuses on early Prague Zionism and its involvement in Czech nationalism of the same period.
You may find the automatic resuscitation machine at the reception desk on the ground floor of the building on Jan Palach Square. The machine is capable of restoring the proper functioning of the heart in case of an emergency. Besides the AED, first aid kits are available in CU FA buildings.
